AUTUMN IS NIGH...
NEW WORK IN PROGRESS
(SEE PAINTINGS LINK)
Many new pieces are in progress for the upcoming fall season from recent trips to the Midwest, more work from Sicily and of course back to Maine for the summer. An upcoming show is being readied at a major gallery in New York, details later.
"For all these years the desire to stay the course as an artist was not in the painting itself but in the freedom of thought that it has fostered and the joy of hearing how your work has given pleasure to so many." ~ Sal Asaro
At 75, Sal vigorously continues to paint. He has worked as a fine and commercial artist since his graduation from Pratt Institute in 1955. After his retirement from commercial art in 1991, Sal's time has been solely devoted to fine art painting in oils.
Sal does much of his work in pleine air. The locations he is most drawn to are rural New Jersey and Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Italy, Sicily and Maine.
